Turkish tourist market sees continued growth

A growing of number of international holidaymakers are choosing to visit Turkey, according to new figures.
The Turkish Press cited data showing that tourism in Istanbul had increased by more than a fifth during the past year.
Whereas 4.9 million people visited the city during the first 11 months of 2006, it attracted just over six million people within the same period of this year.
This means that Istanbul's tourist trade has grown by 21.8 per cent.
Turkey's economy is likely to benefit significantly from the influx of visitors, while owners of rental property in Turkey will also be in line to benefit, as demand will increase.
Figures also revealed that most of the visitors were from overseas, with Germans accounting for 15 per cent of foreign arrivals.
Istanbul was also found to have attracted a significant proportion of Russian holidaymakers.
This comes after Turkish Airlines revealed that it has experienced strong growth during the last 12 months.
