Turkish city 'is a shining star'

A leading tourist official in Turkey has described the city of Antalya as the "shining star" of Europe.
The high praise was awarded by Huseyin Baraner, chairman of the Europe-Turkey Tourism Business Council, after figures revealed an increase in annual visitor numbers.
According to the data, Antalya attracted more holidaymakers than any other city on the Mediterranean coastline last year.
Speaking to the Turkish Press, Mr Baraner commented: "There has been almost 30 per cent rise in bookings for hotels in Antalya this year."
This suggests that the location could be a good option for buy-to-let investors this year, as demand for tourist accommodation is on the up.
Investors could also benefit from the extra revenues that Turkey's tourism industry is creating.
Official figures show that during the first quarter of 2008, the amount generated by the sector was 28.4 per cent up on the same period a year earlier.
