Turkish Airlines continues to grow

Turkish Airlines has revealed that it has experienced strong growth during the last 12 months.

According to the carrier, the number of passengers between January and September was almost a fifth higher than that recorded during the same period last year.

A total of eight million people were said to have flown with the airline during this period, suggesting that the number of people choosing to visit Turkey is growing.

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines stated that its net profit for the year had also gone up, with the overall figure coming to £79 million.

This is 52.4 per cent higher than the amount for 2006 and indicates that the carrier is on track to meet its expansion targets.

Recently, Turkish Airlines general manager Temel Kotil announced that by 2010, he hoped the firm would be transporting 30 million passengers.

He added that it would also begin expanding its fleet and replacing some of its aircraft next year.
