Turkey continues to attract tourists

A holiday firm has revealed that Turkey is continuing to be a popular choice for British holidaymakers.
According to TUI Travel, the overall demand for trips abroad among people in the UK is comparable to last year.
This is despite the various economic problems which have arisen in Britain over recent months, such as the weakening of the pound and increases in the cost of living.
Turkey was highlighted as one of the main hotspots for British leisure travellers, many of whom were said to be unwilling to let financial constraints affect their holiday plans.
Peter Long, chief executive of TUI, commented: "We see no evidence of deteriorating consumer sentiment in our booking patterns, in the average holiday duration booked, average selling price or cancellation rates."
He added that a summer holiday has become an "important component" of the family budget.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators, a holiday is seen as a vital escape from the toils of daily life, as many people are struggling with issues such as high tax payments and utility bills.
