Turkey attracts different nationalities

Holiday resorts in Turkey are attracting people from different nationalities, according to new figures.
The culture and tourism ministry revealed that during the first two months of 2008, almost 295,000 Germans visited the country.
This made them the biggest group of foreign consumers in Turkey during this period, ahead of the Bulgarians and Russians.
However, the country was found to be becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers from eastern Europe.
The number of tourists from the region rose by 10.5 per cent on the previous year to 281,000.
This suggests that the appeal of Turkey as a holiday destination is spreading as well as increasing.
If this trend continues, the country is likely to reap numerous economic benefits, including higher levels of consumer spending and more demand for rental property.
The Turkish government recently revealed that by 2023, it wants to be attracting 50 million visitors a year.
