Tourism boom boosts Turkey's investment potential

It has been revealed that more than 505,650 tourists visited the city of Antalya in southern Turkey last month.
The total number of tourists who have visited Antalya since the start of 2008 may be as many as 1.13 million, according to the Antalya Culture and Tourism Directorate.
It was also announced that the number of tourists arriving in Antalya by plane soared by 17 per cent in April, compared with the same month last year.
This means that demand for rental accommodation from tourists will make Antalya and the rest of Turkey an attractive prospect for UK property buyers wanting to invest overseas.
According to Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman, tourism experts believe 2008 will be a bumper for Turkey, with numbers expected to grow from mid-May.
Meanwhile, Huseyin Baraner, the chairman of Europe-Turkey Tourism Business Council, believes that around 900 planes will take off and land at the Antalya's international airport this summer.
