Property buyers highlight attractions of Turkey
Two overseas property buyers from the UK have revealed what first attracted them to Turkey.
Keith and Elizabeth Buchanan, from Fife in Scotland, chose to buy abroad in order to spend their retirement in the sun.
Speaking to the Sunday Mail, they described the country as a "beautiful" place which offers mountainous landscapes and "stunning" coastlines.
Mr Buchanan said that in this respect, Turkey is very similar to Scotland.
However, he said it offers much better weather than the UK, hence their decision to move abroad permanently.
He commented: "We decided it was now or never really, so we're just going for it."
Mr Buchanan added that the proceeds of selling their house in Scotland are being used to pay for their Turkish home, although the reduced prices in Turkey means they can be mortgage free and buy it outright.
Earlier this month, Business Week stated that houses in Turkey also tend to cost much less than those in countries such as Spain and Italy.
