British holidaymakers favour Turkey

Turkish tourist officials have expressed surprise at the number of Britons who have visited the country this year.
According to the Turkish Hoteliers Federation, the nation's popularity with people from the UK has been above people's expectations, reports TurkishPress.com.
Ahmet Barut, chairman of the organisation, believes this is partly because the cost of holidaying in places such as Spain and Greece has gone up recently.
As a result, people are opting for Turkey because it offers a better value alternative to those who want a Mediterranean holiday.
Mr Barut commented: "Such interest of British travellers stems from the fact that Europe is now much more expensive for them."
He said this is because the pound has recently been falling in value against the single European currency.
Turkey was recently highlighted as one of this year's main hotspots for British holidaymakers by online travel agency Lastminute.com.
