Spanish market laden with bargains

Increasing numbers of UK homebuyers are looking to Spain for their relocation aspirations, according to property brokers.
Though Spain has remained a popular destination for retirement or purchasing holiday homes, a new trend of investing in Spanish businesses has emerged, allowing market-savvy Brits to enjoy sun, sea, sand and healthy profits.
George Lacey, of property firm Lacey and Co, said that innovative investment could yield high rewards.
Though bars and restaurants would always provide viable business options, especially in resorts typically frequented by British holidaymakers, inland property could lead to substantial profits, with converted guesthouses, for example, allowing for exploitation of the lucrative outdoor pursuits market.
"Buying a business in Spain is as easy as it is in the UK or US" and "a good property will go in a matter of months, maybe even less," he said.
Mr Lacey did reiterate the importance of showing caution, with the enlistment of an 'abogado' (lawyer) and 'gestor' (notary) absolutely essential.
He also urged patience for investors moving into unfamiliar businesses, adding: "take it slowly, slowly.
"If you have little prior experience, don't expect success to be automatic."
The renowned comfort of the Spanish lifestyle was recently made official, with the Economist magazine listing its quality of life as the third highest in the world.
