Spain to receive festive holidaymakers
Spain is likely to be a highly popular holiday destination this Christmas, according to experts.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) stated that country offered good weather for the whole year, making it an ideal place for people who wanted to find some winter sun.
Frances Tuke, spokesperson for the organisation, stated that the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands would be among the sunniest and warmest parts of Spain this year.
She commented: "The weather is better there than it is here, so a lot of people do go there over Christmas."
Ms Tuke added that country's popularity among overseas property investors was also likely to feed the tourist industry, since many people would be flying out to spend Christmas in their holiday homes.
ABTA rated Spain as the "top destination" for the forthcoming winter, since "huge numbers" of people owned a property there.
According to a recent study by Yorkshire Bank, the country is the first-choice destination for almost half of prospective buyers.
