Spain 'still offers investment opportunities'

Overseas property buyers are still looking to Spain for new investment opportunities, according to an expert.
Richard Exton from Barclays said that since areas such as the Costa del Sol were now overdeveloped, people were now considering other parts of the country.
The trend of investors looking to less established areas was also attributed to the recent cooling in the Spanish housing market, as this has affected the potential to collect strong returns.
As a result, property buyers were said to now be shifting their attention to places such as Murcia and the Basque country.
Mr Exton commented: "Relative value and growth potential in the medium term are still there."
Speaking to the Sunday Herald, he added that Spain was a now a buyer's market that offered opportunities for the most prudent investors.
The comments come shortly after Paul Collins of the BuyAssociation website recommended Murcia to overseas property buyers.
Commenting on the region, he described it as an "up and coming market".
