Prospective expats 'should get expert advice'

People who are thinking of leaving the UK and settling abroad have been urged to get professional advice before moving.
Martin Stirling from accountancy firm Grant Thornton told the Times that potential expats had to be aware of each country's individual rules and regulations on financial matters.
He advised people to make sure they were familiar with the system governing issues such as fund transfers and tax payments before committing to a move.
Mr Stirling said that since most people would know that they are going to move overseas months in advance, they should spend this time carrying out research.
Speaking to the Times, he commented: "It is advisable to seek specialist advice as soon as you decide to move."
According to property expert Julian King, many Britons are choosing to set up home overseas because the expense of owning and selling a house in the UK is "unnecessarily costly".
