Overseas retirees 'should consider healthcare issues'

Overseas retirees have been urged to consider issues such as healthcare before moving abroad.
Age Concern said that people had to have a course of action in the eventuality of them getting them ill, as many were becoming unable to support themselves as a result of either health problems or lack of finance.
This has prompted the organisation to recommend that people manage their money in order to accommodate the possibility of them requiring healthcare overseas.
Furthermore, the charity warned that people needed to be able to address possible problems caused by linguistic differences.
A spokesperson for Age Concern commented: "You may not need knowledge of the local language to go shopping but it may be crucial for other things such as going to the doctors."
She added that living in a foreign country was very different to holidaying there, making it "essential" for people to plan ahead.
According to Amberlamb, Brazil is rapidly growing in popularity with retirees seeking to settle further afield.
