New airport to open up Spain's Costa de la Luz

Agents in Spain are expecting a flood of enquiries from investors as a new international airport in the Huelva region is given the go-ahead. The potential of the area, near to the popular Costa de la Luz, has long been recognised but the growth of its tourist industry and property market up to now has been restricted by a lack of access.
The new airport will serve the province of Huelva in south-westerly Spain, and will provide an alternative way of getting to the Costa de la Luz. Currently overseas visitors travel to the region from Faro airport in Portugal, or the airport in Seville, which is inland from many of the coast’s main resorts. The city of Huelva is in between Seville and Faro and is a coastal town so no travel is necessary to get to the sea.
Huelva itself has a growing golf tourism industry, yet receives a lower proportion of foreign visitors than the other provinces of Andalucia’s coast. Now that the Spanish Ministry of Construction has given the airport the go-ahead, property industry professionals anticipate that the huge potential of the area will be realised.
As one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, with an established property market and developed infrastructure, investment property in Spain remains a popular choice among foreign buyers. However, as certain areas are increasingly regarded as over-developed, investors are moving away from the more traditionally popular areas in favour of lesser-known markets with greater investment potential. In light of this recent news, property on the Costa de la Luz shows all the hallmarks of an up-and-coming area.
