Moving abroad 'offers financial benefits'

Many Britons are moving abroad in order to take advantage of various financial benefits, according to a new poll.
Research by foreign exchange specialist Moneycorp found that four in ten people were currently thinking of setting up home overseas because spending winter in the UK was making them miserable.
Although the poor weather was commonly cited as one cause of the seasonal bout of depression, financial issues such as the credit crunch and uncertainty in the housing market were also found to be playing a part.
Meanwhile, two-thirds of those who said they wanted to move abroad revealed that they were attracted by the thought of living in a less expensive house, while more than half believed that leaving the UK would reduce the amount of financial pressure they faced.
Nick Bull, head of marketing at Moneycorp, commented: "It's interesting to see that people consider something as life changing as a move abroad as the answer to their woes, financial and otherwise."
This follows a study by HSBC which found that of all the countries that offered a high standard of living, the UK was the third most expensive in the world.
By contrast, a typical annual salary earned in Britain was found to go a lot further in Spain, without the need for a person to compromise on their lifestyle.
