More tourists expected to visit Spain this year

A tourism industry group in Spain is predicting further growth in the country's holiday industry this year.
Exceltur stated that the annual number of visitors rose by 2.2 per cent during 2007 to 59.7 million people.
Jose Luis Zoreda, vice president of the organisation, said this trend of upwards growth was likely to continue during the next 12 months.
Speaking to Reuters, he commented: "For 2008, we expect 60.7 million tourists in Spain."
Sun and beach holidays were found to dominate the country's tourism income, accounting for nearly three-quarters of the overall revenue generated by the sector.
This suggests that overseas property investors who hope to earn rental income by letting out a residence to holidaymakers should concentrate on these areas.
Spain's appeal among foreign buyers was highlighted earlier this week by currency specialist HiFX.
According to the organisation, it has consistently been the most popular market with investors from the UK for the last few years.
