Internet 'a useful resource for expats'

Britons who have decided to live abroad are increasingly using the internet to stay in touch, new research has found.
Alliance & Leicester stated that nearly two-thirds of expatriates emailed friends and relatives back at home every day.
In addition, most were said to have high-speed broadband connections, enabling them to use additional features such as Voice over Internet Protocol systems.
The study also showed that the internet was also being used to carry out other regular tasks, such as managing finances and shopping for groceries.
Simon Hull, managing director of Alliance & Leicester International, said the findings showed that the internet had made a big difference to people who lived abroad.
He commented: "[It] has revolutionised the lives of expats, enabling them to go about their daily lives at the click of a button, any time of the day."
According to the Office for National Statistics, 207,000 people chose to leave Britain and live abroad last year.
