Budget airline arrives in Manchester

Low-cost airline easyJet has begun incorporating GB Airways' planes into its fleet at Manchester Airport.
The carrier purchased its smaller counterpart last year and is set to take over the running of its routes, including services to Cyprus, Crete and Spain.
According to the airline, the incorporation of GB Airways into its existing network is part of a major expansion at the north-west-based airport.
Carly Brear, easyJet's UK commercial manager, said it wants to start launching new flights from Manchester in the near future.
She commented: "We've received a warm welcome from the city and have already introduced a new route to Alicante, which will launch in the autumn."
The airline added that its arrival in Manchester signals a "new era" for easyJet, as it creates the potential for further growth.
Meanwhile, the company has revealed that 3.6 million people boarded its flights during April 2008 - 13.4 per cent above the amount recorded a year earlier.
