Britons 'taking holidays in Spain'

British holidaymakers are continuing to take their holidays in Spain, according to official figures.
Government statistics showed that one in four people who arrived in the country for a break last year hailed from the UK.
A total of 16.3 million Britons visited Spain during 2007 - 0.5 per cent more than during the previous year.
Figures also showed that ten million German holidaymakers visited the country during this period, along with 9.3 million people from France.
This shows that Spain has retained its appeal to people of different nationalities, despite the increased competition from emerging tourist destinations.
The country's popularity was recently highlighted by A Place in the Sun magazine, which named it as the first choice investment market with British property buyers.
Spain's growing tourist market could help to boost it appeal even further, as it suggests that investors may benefit from higher occupancy rates and rental returns.
