Britons set up home in Murcia

The number of Britons living in the Murcia region of Spain has gone up significantly in the last few years.
According to official figures cited by Homes Worldwide, more than 17,000 people from the UK now live in the area permanently.
This is up from just over 1,000 seven years earlier.
Commenting on the figures, Homes Worldwide attributed the increase in the number of expatriates to factors including accessibility improvements and investment in local infrastructure.
The website added that the area had become more desirable as a result of new leisure facilities being created, including golf courses.
This, in turn, was said to have to have led to a number of high-end properties being created across the area.
According to the Office for National Statistics, Spain as a whole is one of the most popular destinations among Britons who choose to live abroad.
