Britons rent at home and buy abroad

High house prices in the UK are one of the main reasons for lots of younger Britons opting to live in rented accommodation.
However, the Telegraph has stated that this is not preventing people from purchasing a property altogether, as some are choosing to invest abroad.
According to the newspaper, many people from the UK are snapping up relative bargains in less-expensive markets overseas.
Furthermore, many are using them to generate wealth by renting them out to visitors and by collecting the proceeds of capital growth.
This has become a lifestyle choice for lots of people, largely because growth in the UK's housing market is now slowing down, therefore making it less lucrative than fast-growing markets overseas.
The Telegraph described the trend as a "considered lifestyle or investment decision" rather than an act borne out of financial necessity.
Earlier this week, a poll by Fair Investment Company revealed that 44 per cent of first-time buyers are willing to look overseas in order to get on the property ladder.
