Britons embrace budget airlines

Low-cost airlines are proving to be highly popular with British holidaymakers this Christmas.
Ryanair has stated that two million people have booked passage on its flights to visit friends and relatives abroad over the festive season.
The carrier said this was a record amount and one-fifth higher than the amount recorded a year ago.
Peter Sherrard, head of communications at the airline, commented: "Ryanair will operate more flights than Rudolph this Christmas."
However, he recommended that passengers arrive at the airport early since officials are dealing with a large volume of passengers over the festive season.
A similar statement was recently issued by another budget carrier, easyJet.
The airline stated that it was also set to transport a record number of passengers this Christmas, with more than a million people taking domestic or international flights.
According to easyJet, Spanish destinations such as Alicante, Malaga and Barcelona are among the most popular destinations for festive holidaymakers.
