British pensioners set to buy foreign property

The overseas property market could be set to be boosted by older people from the UK, according to a new study.
Research by Scottish Widows revealed that over a third of Britons would consider moving to another country after they retired.
This means that many of those buying foreign property during the next few years are likely to be older people looking to live abroad on a permanent basis.
The study showed that Britons on an annual salary of more than £40,000 a year were the most likely group to want to leave the UK, as they were paying a higher rate of tax than those on a lower wage.
Scottish Widows also revealed that a similar proportion of males and females were thinking of emigrating, with 56 per cent and 54 per cent respectively saying they would possibly move overseas.
Earlier this month, research by Moneycorp found that four in ten people were currently thinking of setting up home overseas because spending winter in the UK was making them miserable.
