Becoming an expat 'brings social kudos'

Many people are setting up home overseas in order to improve their social standing, according to an expert.
Paul Beasley, editor of Emigrate magazine, stated that some Britons believed that moving abroad would give them a sense of "kudos" among their peer group.
However, he told Homes Worldwide that was just one of the perceived benefits of becoming an expatriate, as many wanted to improve their overall quality of life.
Mr Beasley commented: "People just feel that life in Britain is becoming more stressful, more difficult."
He added that many people in the UK were also aggrieved at the amount they were paying in taxes, as well as the relatively high price of property when compared with values in other countries.
Last month, research by UKForex found that more than nine out of ten UK citizens who now lived in Spain were happy with their new life abroad.
