Locations - Costa Blanca

The White Coast

The Costa Blanca is on the east coast of Spain and stretches from Denia in the north down to Torrevieja in the south. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the country, enjoying 315 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of around 18 - 19ºC, attracting millions of tourists to visit each year. It encompasses around 200km of the coastline, and the coastal road runs along its entirety.

Varied geography

The geography of the Costa Blanca is varied. In the north, the land is comparatively green and lush with citrus and olive groves dotted around the mountainous landscape. Towards the south, the land becomes much drier and flatter, and this area is home to Europe’s largest salt flats and palm gardens.

Catering for every visitor

Throughout the region of the Costa Blanca, visitors of every type are catered for. The sunny climate and beautiful beaches mean that many do not travel far away from the sea. However, for those that do, there is a host of different attractions to be enjoyed, from traditional Spanish villages in the mountains to the clubs and pubs of the resort towns. There are also numerous golf courses in the region, supporting the Costa Blanca’s year-round tourism.

Benidorm

One of the Costa Blanca’s best known towns is the British favourite of Benidorm. Once a fishing village, tourism has transformed Benidorm and today its pretty old town is overshadowed by a collection of skyscrapers, including a 186m-tall hotel. Benidorm welcomes around 5 million visitors a year from Spain and overseas.

British favourite

Although a holiday in Benidorm is not the experience of Spain that all holidaymakers are looking for, it nevertheless attracts many tourists, particularly British, looking for a good nightlife, some winter sun or a family break with an excellent range of facilities. Although prices are comparatively high in the area, Benidorm’s established tourist industry, year-round rental demand and strong market for second homes mean that a good investment property can still be found.

Javea

Another of the most popular regions along this coast is the city of Javea in the north of the region. Javea has a historic old town, set slightly back from the coast, which is a favourite among visitors for its traditional feel, its host of unique and individual shops and its late-Gothic church, San Bartolemé. Javea also has an attractive port area, where visitors can find the church Nestra Senora de Loreta, designed with a roof in the shape of the hull of a boat. Javea is one of the most sought-after areas of the Costa Blanca and the benefits of its established market go a long way towards attracting investors.
