Romanian government launches new marketing drive

Romania's government is to step up efforts to market the country overseas, according to a media report.
HotNews stated that about £1.5 million is to be spent on creating a new brand image for the eastern European nation.
This should enable it to promote itself more effectively to consumers in places such as Spain and Italy.
Commenting on the initiative, tourism minister Lucia Morariu said: "In case the brand we create is successful, this will also influence the country brand."
The new strategy comes in the wake of several other marketing drives which the government believes were not entirely successful, for reasons such as failing to communicate "the essence" of Romania to prospective visitors.
If the new scheme is successful, it should create a significant boost to the country's economy, particularly in areas such as its property market, service sector and tourism industry.
This comes just over a year after Romania became a member of the European Union.
