Airport boosted by eastern Europe flights

A UK airport has reported that the popularity of flights to eastern Europe has helped boost its passenger numbers.
According to London Luton Airport, the number of people passing through its gates exceeded ten million for the first time in its 70-year history last year.
Natalie Raper, the portal's marketing director, attributed the increase to the recent introduction of cheap flights to new and emerging markets.
In particular, she highlighted cities in central and eastern European countries as particularly popular locations for passengers.
She commented: "With a key focus on offering more destinations to our passengers, London Luton Airport has seen a notable increase in passenger throughput."
Ms Raper added that passing the ten million mark was a "fantastic milestone" for the facility.
London Luton Airport currently offers flights to various eastern European destinations, including Bucharest and Transylvania, as well as Zagreb and Sofia.
