Portugal 'is a safe investment'
Overseas property buyers who want to invest in a secure market should consider Portugal, according to an expert.
Sarah Wood, author of Retirement Property 2007, stated that since it was an established market, the country posed little risk to cautious investors.
In addition, she said its advanced infrastructure made it highly suitable for people who were considering relocating abroad permanently.
For example, she praised the telecommunications network, as expatriates would be able to stay in touch with people back at home.
Speaking to Homes Worldwide, Ms Wood commented: "It's easy to phone and use the internet etc, unlike some newer, emerging foreign property markets."
She added that leisure facilities such as golf courses and historical sites, as well as its good climate, made Portugal a good location for retirees.
The country was recently named as one of the most popular markets among British property buyers by Holiday-Rentals.
