Portugal 'good for British investors'

Portugal's wide range of leisure attractions makes it an excellent place for overseas property buyers, according to a media report.

Country Life magazine stated that areas such as the Algarve were very popular with holiday home owners from the UK, since it offered a number of different recreational facilities.

For example, it highlighted its sporting infrastructure such as the range of tennis courts and golf courses in the area.

Visitors were also said to be able to enjoy activities such as horse riding in an environment that was blessed with good weather all year round.

Country Life commented: "These areas provide everything British sun-seekers require."

The publication added that 38,000 Britons now lived in Portugal on a permanent basis, while a further 11,000 owned holiday homes.

According to the Office for National Statistics, more than 200,000 people from the UK relocated abroad last year.
