New flights set to boost Portuguese rental market

Rental investors in Portugal are likely to be boosted by the launch of new flights from the UK.
Low-cost airline easyJet began operating its twice-weekly service from Glasgow to Faro earlier this week.
According to the carrier, it is expecting to carry about 16,000 passengers on this route during the next 12 months.
This suggests that demand for rental accommodation in Faro and the Algarve as a whole is likely to go up throughout this period.
As a result, owners of buy-to-let property in the area could be set to collect larger rental yields this year.
David Osborne, UK general manager at easyJet, commented: "This direct route to Faro has already proven a popular choice and will offer all Scots the opportunity to experience the glorious Algarve from their local airport."
He added that the airline is responding to high demand for direct low-cost flights from Glasgow to sunny destinations in Europe.
This comes after the National Institute of Statistics revealed that 23 million people visited Portugal last year - five per cent more than in 2006.
