New campaign aims to boost Portuguese tourism

A new campaign to boost tourism in a major Portuguese resort is to be launched by the country's government, it has been reported.
Portugal's tourism ministry is understood to have solicited the help of numerous celebrities to participate in the initiative, which is designed to boost the holiday industry in the Algarve.
According to the Portugal Resident, well-known figures including triathlon world champion Vanessa Fernandes and former Chelsea football manager Jose Mourinho are involved.
Although the final budget for the promotional drive has not yet been set, it is expected to come to at least 3 million.
If the campaign is successful in boosting tourism in the Algarve, the resort could also benefit from added interest from rental investors and holiday home buyers.
Recently, the country's tourist office announced that it would aim to increase visitor numbers across the whole Iberian Peninsula by working closely with its Spanish counterparts.
