Ireland sees festive exodus

Holiday home owners from Ireland are choosing to spend Christmas in their foreign residence, according to experts.
Limerick Travel stated that many people were booking flights to countries such as Portugal and Spain in order to stay in their overseas property during the festive season.
Speaking the Limerick Post, company director said that a record number of Irish people were now choosing to enjoy Christmas away from home.
He commented: "There are a huge of people now who own accommodation abroad and are spending the holidays in places like Malaga or Portugal, or wherever."
Mr Brazil added that the prospect of enjoying sunny weather was one of the main reasons for the festive exodus, along with the availability of cheap flights.
He said the extra services provided by low-cost carriers for Christmas had been "selling well".
Meanwhile, the Association of British Travel Agents has predicted that during the next nine days, about 3.5 million will head overseas.
