Independent advice 'essential for overseas buyers'
Getting independent advice is essential for overseas property buyers when getting a mortgage, according to experts.
Anglo Portuguese Mortgages said that if clients got professional advice from an independent source, they would benefit from it and possibly get a better deal.
However, the firm stated that those who had already chosen the country they were planning to buy into would benefit more if they saw a specialist in that market.
Clive Statham, managing director of Anglo Portuguese Mortgages, told Homes Worldwide: "Buyers need to choose an independent mortgage adviser or banker's agent who works with all major lenders."
He added that independent advisers would be able to familiarise buyers with the range of products on the market and help them choose the most suitable option.
This comes after Jackson International recommended that people who were buying abroad should try to not let their excitement affect their judgement.
