Algarve recommended to Canadian holidaymakers
Leisure travellers in Canada have been advised to consider taking a holiday in the Algarve region of Portugal.
Canada.com said that north American travel firms were increasingly promoting the area as a good tourist destination.
In addition, the news provider itself listed the European country in its run-down of the year's ten most desirable holiday hotspots.
The website commented: "The Algarve offers more than 150 kilometres of beaches, pleasant winter temperatures and great golf."
Canada.com added that the region also offered a wide variety of leisure facilities and attractions, including historical and cultural sites and places to eat good food.
Furthermore, the online portal said it was only a two-hour drive away from Portugal's capital city Lisbon, which means it is easily accessible to Canadian holidaymakers.
According to figures from Country Life, Portugal is so popular with British tourists that 11,000 people from the UK now own holiday homes in the country.
