Winter tourists to fly to Morocco
Morocco has been named as one of the most popular tourist destinations for British holidaymakers at Christmas.
TravelRepublic.co.uk stated that many people from the UK were choosing to leave the country during festive season in order to soak up the sun overseas.
The north African country of Morocco was found to be one of the most popular options for British travellers, in particular the city of Marrakesh.
Paul Furner, managing director of TravelRepublic.co.uk, commented: "The combination of the terrible summer and the clocks changing this weekend have prompted a surge in bookings for Christmas holidays to the sun."
The website added that the popularity of Morocco was surprising, as most people were opting for established holiday destinations at Christmas such as Portugal and Spain.
Earlier this month, Travel and Tourism News reported that the number of holidaymakers arriving in Morocco last year was 6.5 million.
