Morocco 'needs more media coverage in UK'
The level of coverage Morocco receives in the British press has been criticised by an analyst.
Sharif Hikmat Nashashibi of Arab Media Watch said the extent of Morocco's popularity among UK nationals is not being adequately reflected in the media.
He told the Guardian that while the country was frequently mentioned in passing, various aspects needed to be covered more frequently and in greater depth.
Morocco's housing market and tourist trade were highlighted as two areas where coverage was fairly good.
However, Mr Nashashibi told the newspaper it was still not sufficient and proportionate considering the number of Britons it attracts each year.
He commented: "Morocco enjoys good relations with the UK and is a popular destination for British tourists, so it's rather surprising how little attention the country gets from the British media."
This comes after official government data revealed that 7.45 million foreign nationals visited Morocco last year.
