Morocco attracts millions of tourists

Moroccan tourist officials have announced that the number of foreign visitors to the country has gone up this year.
The department of tourism stated that between January and October, the north African nation received 6.3 million holidaymakers.
This figure, which is 14 per cent higher than the number recorded a year earlier, shows that the government is succeeding in attracting more people to Morocco.
A growing tourist trade could be particularly lucrative for the country's economy, particularly as considerable sums of money have already been invested in the sector.
Magharebia.com recently cited official figures showing that tourism accounted for more than half of overall government investment in 2006.
This means that the government is now reaping the benefits, as are other people with interests in the Moroccan tourist industry.
For example, overseas property owners will be benefiting from greater occupancy rates and higher rental returns.
