Moroccan economy 'benefiting from growing tourism'

Growth in the Moroccan tourism industry has generated extra wealth for the country, according to new figures.
Official data cited by Panapress showed that the government believed the overall amount of money produced by the holiday sector last year would come to more than £3.9 billion.
This is up from £3.5 billion a year earlier and highlights the continuing growth in Morocco's tourist trade.
Mohamed Boussaid, the country's tourism minister, commented: "We are far beyond the 2006 figures."
The increase is particularly noteworthy since the previous year also saw substantial growth, as the amount generated in 2006 was up by nearly a third on 2005.
This suggests that the government is on track to meet its target of boosting the annual number of visitors to ten million within the next two years.
As well as boosting the country's economy, this could significantly enhance its appeal to overseas property buyers.
