Britons taking cheap winter flights abroad
An increasing number of people from the UK are flying overseas this winter, according to experts.
The Association of British Travel Agents said that since many had missed out on bargain holidays during this year's wet summer, some were choosing to have a winter break instead.
Sean Tipton, spokesperson for the organisation, stated that sunny destinations were the most popular places to visit, with north Africa in particular attracting lots of visitors.
Speaking to the Western Mail, he commented: "A lot of people didn't get to go abroad so there's been a ten per cent rise in winter sun holidays."
Mr Tipton added that the number of Britons going abroad this winter was likely to be more than three million.
This comes after the Post Office found that at least 2.4 million were planning to head overseas for the festive season in order to escape the British weather.
