Thousands of Britons 'book summer holidays today'

Thousands of people in the UK are likely to book their summer holidays today, according to experts.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) stated that Monday January 7th would see more holiday bookings than any other day of the year.
Returning to work after the festive season was cited as the main reason, as people wanted to get rid of the "post-Christmas blues".
ABTA stated that booking a holiday was a "great way" of overcoming the seasonal depression, adding that January was a very busy time for the holiday industry.
However, the government has urged those who are planning a summer holiday not to overlook making sure their passport is valid.
Home Office minister Meg Hillier commented: "We are encouraging holidaymakers to check their passport is up-to-date as it now can take up to six weeks for first-time adult customers to get a new passport."
Meanwhile, ABTA has revealed that a large number of Britons are taking winter holidays to sunny destinations.
The organisation said there had been a substantial increase in the amount of bookings at this time of year.
