Record number of Brits head abroad

A record number of people are set to leave the UK over the Christmas and new year period, new research has revealed.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has predicted that during the next ten days, about 3.5 million will head overseas.
Many were said to be choosing to spend the holiday season abroad as they wanted to enjoy some warm sunshine during their time off work.
Dubai was highlighted as a particularly popular destination, along with Spain and Egypt.
However, high volumes of snow in parts of Italy and France were said to have been very tempting for winter sports fans.
ABTA stated that many people were heading to the slopes this Christmas in order to make the most of the "fantastic" conditions.
Meanwhile, a poll by Ebookers.com has found that 23 per cent of those going away for the festive season are doing so for the first time.
