Property buyers look to purchase abroad

Owning a second home abroad is becoming more and more popular among Britons, new figures have revealed.
Country Life magazine cited government statistics showing that in the last decade, there has been little change in the number of people owning an alternative residence in the UK.
By contrast, the level of foreign property ownership was found to have gone up significantly throughout this period.
Whereas 115,000 people owned a second home abroad in 1997, 248,000 Britons had made such a purchase by 2007.
Figures also indicated that the bulk of this extra activity has occurred in the last three years.
This suggests that a number of factors have come into play during this time in order to tempt people outside of the UK.
Numerous experts including the BuyAssociation website have highlighted growth in the aviation sector as one major factor, as low-cost airlines have made foreign travel more convenient and affordable.
