People go abroad 'to mark personal milestones'

Many people are travelling abroad outside of the peak holiday season to mark significant events, new research has found.
A study by Expedia.co.uk found that three-quarters of Britons had gone overseas to mark an occasion or personal milestones such as a wedding anniversary.
For people celebrating the date of their nuptials, Venice was said to be an especially popular location.
In addition, newly-engaged couples were found to favour travelling to the French capital Paris.
This research could be of interest to owners of rental accommodation in these areas, as they could benefit from custom during off-peak times of the year.
However, people were also found to go abroad to mark less pleasant milestones, as Spain was said to be a particularly popular among the recently bereaved.
Recently, the Association of British Travel Agents said the holiday industry was at its busiest during August and the Christmas season.
