Edinburgh gets cheap flights to Europe

Budget airline Ryanair has announced that it will launch new services to mainland Europe from Edinburgh Airport.
The move means that consumers in Scotland will have greater access to destinations such as Alicante in Spain and Pisa in Italy in 2008.
Flights to Marseille in France and the German cities of Bremen and Frankfurt will also be launched next year.
The announcement was described as "fantastic news" by David Johnston, managing director of Edinburgh Airport.
He commented: "Ryanair's expansion from Edinburgh opens up brand new destinations and adds further choice and frequency for passengers."
This should also enhance the appeal of areas such as Alicante among overseas property buyers, as they will be likely to receive additional tourists next year.
Spain's appeal to British holidaymakers was highlighted recently by the Post Office when it revealed it was the most popular destination among those spending Christmas abroad.
