Calabria attracts 'shrewd' property buyers
The Italian province of Calabria is attracting considerable interest from property buyers in Britain.
According to Gabriele Giambrone of Italian legal firm Giambrone & Law, the region is particularly popular because it offers a number of investment opportunities.
He described many of the buyers as "shrewd" as they had picked up on the potential it offers and had entered the market early.
This was said to be the case for both holiday home buyers and those who were buying purely for investment purposes.
Mr Giambrone commented: "We are seeing an explosion of interest in the southern regions of Italy, which is fast becoming the new Algarve of the Mediterranean."
He added that areas such as Puglia and Sicily were also becoming highly popular locations among investors and second home buyers.
This comes after a list of the world's top 20 investment hotspots by HolidayLettings.co.uk placed Italy in fourth place.
