British homeowners seek opportunities overseas

Brits are increasingly looking at overseas properties as the UK housing market goes through a corrective slowdown, it has been claimed.
Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation, said that homeowners are losing confidence in Britain's property market and are concerned about the value of their investment.
In turn, this could persuade them to make a firm decision about investing in overseas bricks and mortar, which has always been "very aspirational", he said.
"People start to look to overseas for better opportunities to make some money with the equity that they've got," remarked Mr Collins.
"People will maybe have less confidence in the amount of money that they have in their UK property. It tends to steel people into making a decision with buying overseas."
Last month, Exchange Bond reported that UK and Irish residents owned as many as 3.81 million properties in foreign countries.
It is predicted that this figure will grow by between eight and ten per cent this year alone.
