Aviation 'boosts Calabrian property market'

A budget airline has been credited with helping to kick-start the interest in Calabria among foreign property buyers.
UK-based newspaper the Telegraph stated that the introduction of flights to the Italian province by Ryanair had helped to raise the profile of the area.
The publication also stated that Calabria, commonly nicknamed as the "toe on the Italian boot", was becoming increasingly fashionable as a result.
"Since Ryanair started to fly into the region Calabria's star has risen," the newspaper commented.
This surge of interest was found to have a positive effect on the local property market, as new developments were being created in many sought-after coastal areas.
However, Calabria was still said to offer "relatively affordable" properties, suggesting that investors could benefit if they entered the market early.
According to the Mayo Advertiser, property values in the province have risen by more than one-third during the last 12 months.
