1 in 3 skilled professionals live abroad

One in three British expatriates are highly skilled university graduates, according to new research.
A study by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that 3.2 million British-born people now live overseas.
More than one million of these people were said to be qualified professionals, including teachers, doctors and engineers.
Commenting on the figures, a spokesperson for the OECD said: "British people have lots of opportunities to move and work abroad so very highly-skilled people are travelling around."
He added that having some experience of living abroad was now widely seen as a vital part of their personal development.
The proportion of people moving from the UK is much higher than in other OECD members, including Germany, France and US.
According to the Office for National Statistics, 207,000 UK nationals moved abroad during 2006 - a record figure under current measuring systems.
A recent report in the News of the World suggested the figure for 2007 could be as high as 250,000.
