South Africa sees positive influence of foreign property investment

Foreign property investment, particularly in the market of luxury homes, is having a positive influence on the South African economy, new research has revealed.
Website Fly2let.co.uk reported on the new research by the South African property industry that showed that foreign investment in local property was pushing prices upwards.
But this has also sparked claims that foreign investment is putting property out of reach of most South Africans.
And findings of the Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa (IEASA) and the Residential Property Prices Report (RPPR) seemed to contradict earlier research, as they both claimed that foreign investment in real estate remained relatively small.
The debate over house prices has been enough for the South African government to announce it was considering putting a moratorium on overseas investment of real estate, in order to slow down the rises in property prices.
