New Zealand favoured by retirees

The southern hemisphere is the most popular destination for Brits looking to retire abroad, according to a new poll.
A survey from Bank of Scotland International found that 11 per cent of British pensioners would love to live in New Zealand, with seven per cent favouring a move to Oz.
English-speaking countries clearly had the biggest appeal for elderly Britons, with Canada garnering six per cent of the vote to finish in third equal position with France.
The traditional investment destination of Spain rounded off the top five.
Tony Wilcox, managing director of Bank of Scotland International, said that the poll revealed that 31 per cent of British pensioners have considered a move overseas.
"When retiring abroad it is important to have looked into your pension arrangements and to have adequate financial planning in place," he added.
One million UK citizens receive their pension abroad, according to the Department for Work and Pensions.
